Question to all of you in the ER&D..

What do you feel will be the technological advances made in Star Trek after Nemesis?

In Star Wars.. What's a good blaster design? or for that matter a good Hyper-drive engine design?

Just some ideas to get people motivated.. ask around .. who needs ship deck listings.. or perhaps some more detailed information on what their ship MIGHT have in the way of shields/armor and other engineering and/or technical specs.

All we need is an idea.. if we can imagine it.. we can create it!

Star Wars is easy... design a blaster that hits people instead of the ones all the bad guys have now and are inaccurate from 1 to 30 feet away. :)

Star Trek is an interesting question. If anyone has gone through "Star Trek Countdown", the comic prequel to the latest movie which shows the events leading up to the destruction of Romulus, and gives some insight into the technology that has been developed since Nemesis. You also have Star Trek online set in 2409 which kind of takes the steps of showing the new advances but it's all based around a function within the game itself, not necessarily what would make sense canon-wise.

I think we should get a database together of the timeline of every sim, and start developing things based around these timeframes so that potentially a sim could use something we develop, or even make a request like they did in the past.

Bri I think that is a great Idea.. lots of work to be done but in the end I think it will be well worth it!

One of my favourite ideas for Star Trek tech is the holo-suit. Using a flexiable version of the Holodeck technology (as described in the ST:TNG Tech manual).

Basically, think of a skin-tight suit that uses miniaturised replicators and photon projectors to create whatever is needed by the user.

I'll be writing up full tech details in a few days.
