I'd start by basing off of the bike from Akira....That seems like a great starting point, but of course it's not my project.. maybe you should ask Ramsay.

* booming voice * WHO HAS SUMMONED ME!!!

OK so you need some ideas for the over all form.
My first mental image concept was based on the Akira bike, yet with the guns of the Motoslave from Bubblegum Crisis 2040 so using the Akira bike is a good Start,
My second Image was of a "Crotch Rocket" leaving out the Pipes... there are ways around pipes after all the MTT turbine super bike has no large muffler needing to be hidden ( of course they use a Jet turbine ).

although the Name is taken from a Classic Cruiser I never thought that it would make sense to use a Harley based Design as the concept is based on Starfleet tech meaning a Sleek slick and futuristic approach this is not a West coat chopper, nor a Motocross but more Super bike/Drag Bike

lol, you know what is funny..., I had the same idea when I sketched the first design in my sketch pad, it looked like a crotch rocket with nothing on it but glowing treads because, I would think, in the future there would be something more stable than rubber for tires.

My second was actually really nice, done entirely in Photoshop, and I was painting it when I suddenly realized that I was painting on the wrong layer sparking that I would have to redo the entire thing.

Don't worry though, when I have a mental image of something I almost always start work on it immediately.

not quite sure about the glowing treads as the Argo did have tires although they were gray in color and had some costom rims.

I personally think the Argo didn't look futuristic at all, more SG1 but not something that you would see the Federation sporting when you look at what they sail through space in.

It was probably made for budgetary reasons or something, who knows. Of course, it may not have the power unit to deal with anything more complex trektech wise. (of course, considering there's an advanced android...who knows what size power supply you'd really need for some of this stuff...)

The Argo itself was an already established prototype ATV. They just asked if they could borrow the design for the movie basically, and threw on some panels that make it look Federation.

a point but then again ti also makes some logical sense as if a jamming field were activated or if the environment were to inhibit use of antigravs the best reaction would be well good solid wheels. the look was a little surprising but then I though about other equipment seen in starfleet hands and it's a purely logical design. ( it even looks kinda like some of the Next generation Hummer designs in testing. )

Well, I got the sketch done, did it the traditional pencil and paper method,, did in bed one night when I couldn't sleep, it looks pretty good and should give the future feel (yes, it has wheels).

I'm going to scan it and paint it in Photoshop CS3, something I've never actually done before, so, this will be a first; but, I've been told its been done over and over again by countless artist across the digital field, so, I have no worries.

Laters...,

The Argo was also intended more as a recreational vehicle - something they would primarily use for fun.

Just because it was INTENDED for recreational use... doesn't mean it wasn't converted for "Aggressive Actions" before being put on the Enterprise

Although It may have been used For recreation I highly doubt it was intended from the start as a Toy! a more likely possibility is it was modified from a Civilian recreational vehicle but star fleet saw the logic of the system and modified it into a Combat vehicle

I can't remember his exact words now, but Picard clearly made reference to wanting to take the Argo out for fun. I don't know about it being on past ships, I just saw it for the first time in the movie.

no what he said was " I've been itching to try the Argo"

nothing about it being a recreational vehicle

Either way, this thread is about the development and drawings/graphics for the Motorcycle (like) vehicle, not debates as to the point of the Argo at least beyond it's reference to the initial vehicle. :D

I can't really decide on a color..., thinking about just leaving it as a sketch, black and white...,

I got both wheels on and an engine compartment that is pretty much enclosed. Should be very maneuverable.

If these storms ever pass I'll try and finish it :)
